Back from Vacation

I know it has been a while since my last post – but I am finally back from vacation and have been able to find the time to write an update!

The cruise itself was great! We had beautiful weather, an awesome room and got to visit two islands we have never been to – Belize and Honduras. I was also able to muster up the courage to rock a bikini two of the days … and let’s just say baby girl probably has a nice little tan now!

We also swam with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Here’s a picture!

Beyond that, all is going well with our little peanut. I can finally feel her moving all around. At the beginning, it was a little creepy – but I have found that I get really excited now every time I feel her kick or punch.

I keep hoping Mike will get to feel her soon … but I think he’s getting tired of me putting his hand on my belly and being disappointed. It’s gotta be any day now!

Went in for a check-up on Monday and baby is in the 50th percentile – which is a-ok by me. The smaller she is, hopefully the easier she will come out! I have to do the gestational diabetes test next time, so here’s praying I don’t have to give up any of my goodies. Will be sure to keep you updated.

Oh – and since I don’t have enough going on in my life right now, I am excited to say that I am starting a new job! I know what you are thinking, she’s finally having a baby and she is leaving a child care company … that makes no sense! But trust me, it’s a good decision and a healthy one for me. I am looking forward to the new challenge ahead and will let you know how it’s going. I officially start on Monday!

Other than that, our baby furniture arrived – so it’s time to get down to business on the nursery! Wish us luck!

New belly pic coming soon!

Here a Flutter, There a Flutter ….

I am happy to say that last night, I felt baby girl move for the first time. At least that is what I think I felt! Since I am a newbie, it is a little hard to know for sure. It was very cool and sort of freaky all at the same time … but probably something I will never forget.

I was taking a bath reading a pregnancy book (because what else do you read during these 40 weeks!) and just couldn’t concentrate. Something felt weird. So I put the book down and just put my hands on my belly. After a couple minutes, I realized that what I was feeling was baby girl moving around. Sort of felt like she was doing somersaults in there for lack of a better word. Clearly, I’m sure she is not already a gymnast, but that is the best way I can describe it. Then, I didn’t want to move cause I was afraid I wouldn’t feel her anymore. It really was pretty awesome.

After that, I sort of came to the realization that all I have really done in this blog is complain about how sick she has made me and how fat I am getting. Well, even with all of the grief the first half of pregnancy has caused me, I really couldn’t be more excited to meet our little peanut!

I absolutely adore her already and truly believe she is going to grow up to be every man’s dream – a little diva princess like her momma with all of the cool tomboy traits that daddy is going to instill in her, like fishing and snowmobiling!

So one day when she is old enough to read this blog, I want her to know that I (and Mike too) loved her from the moment we knew she was coming. For all of you parents, you already know what an amazing feeling it is to be a mom or dad … but I am sure you remember your first time. Every day is such a miracle and a blessing – even with all of the other stuff that comes along with it!
